Giftboxd — Privacy Policy

1) Quick summary

  • On-device by default: Your gift lists and notes stay on your device.
  • We don't sell or share your data.
  • No ads. Ever.
  • We only collect installation numbers and crash reports to understand usage at a high level and fix problems.

2) Data we do not collect

  • No account details (there are no accounts).
  • No personal contact lists, calendars, photos, or precise location.
  • No analytics about how you use individual screens or features.

3) Data we do receive

  • Installation numbers: Aggregate counts (e.g., total installs by region), typically via Apple's App Store reporting. This is non-identifying.
  • Crash reports & diagnostics: Technical data about an error (device model, iOS version, stack traces). Where available, this may include anonymised crash context. We use this solely to fix stability issues.

4) Storage & retention

  • Your content is stored on your device (and in your iCloud if you enable Apple's device backup/sync).
  • Crash data is retained only as long as necessary to investigate and improve app stability.

5) Legal bases (UK/EEA)

Where applicable, our legal basis for the limited processing above is legitimate interests (maintaining and improving the app).

6) Children

Giftboxd can be used by families, but it's intended for use by adults. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

7) Your choices

  • You can stop sending crash diagnostics via Apple device settings.
  • You can delete the app at any time; your data is removed from your device with the app (and from your iCloud if you delete associated backups).

8) Third parties

We rely on Apple for distribution, payments, TestFlight, and crash/installation reporting. Apple's own terms and privacy policies apply to those services.

9) International transfers

If any crash/diagnostic data is processed outside the UK/EEA by Apple or other sub-processors they use, those providers are responsible for appropriate safeguards.

10) Changes

We may update this policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. We'll update the effective date above. Continued use means you accept the revised policy.
